This policy sets out Glitch Servers' commitment to ensuring a safe working environment for all staff and contractors, particularly when operating in data centre environments or handling physical hardware.
2. Scope
Applies to all employees, contractors, and on-site technicians working in environments controlled by Glitch Servers or its colocation providers.
3. Definitions
- Risk Assessment: The process of evaluating potential hazards to health and safety.
- PPE: Personal Protective Equipment, such as gloves, masks, or anti-static gear.
- Incident: Any unplanned event that results in or could result in injury, illness, or property damage.
4. Responsibilities
- Management is responsible for providing guidance, training, and resources for safe operations.
- All personnel must comply with safety procedures, report hazards, and wear appropriate PPE when required.
- Contractors must comply with both Glitch Servers' policy and any site-specific health and safety rules.
5. Data Centre Safety
- Only trained and authorised individuals may access data centre environments.
- All physical work must follow proper lifting procedures and use anti-static precautions.
- Power equipment must be handled in accordance with safe electrical practices and only when de-energised.
6. Office and Remote Work Safety
- Workstations must be ergonomically arranged to reduce risk of strain.
- Remote staff must ensure their environment is free from hazards and that electrical equipment is safely operated.
- Mental health support is encouraged through reasonable work hours and regular check-ins.
7. Risk Assessments and Training
- Risk assessments are performed for new installations, major infrastructure changes, or physical hardware upgrades.
- Staff are required to complete basic health and safety training, including data centre awareness where applicable.
8. Incident Reporting
- All incidents, no matter how minor, must be reported within 24 hours.
- Reports should be submitted to the Health & Safety lead or emailed to [email protected].
- Follow-up investigations may be conducted to prevent recurrence.
9. Review and Updates
- This policy is reviewed annually or after any significant incident.
- Updates are communicated to all relevant personnel.
