SCUM Server Hosting in the UK

Persistent SCUM worlds on UK infrastructure - custom settings, full admin tools, DDoS protected

About This Game

SCUM Server Hosting in the UK

SCUM dedicated server setup on Windows Server (preferred for this title) uses SteamCMD. Here is the standard deployment process.

SCUM Server Hosting in the UK from Glitch Servers provides low-latency UK game server infrastructure with always-on DDoS protection - backed by AMD Ryzen hardware, NVMe Gen4 storage, and UK-native routing through AS212868. SCUM is one of the most resource-intensive survival games to host: its detailed metabolism simulation, wide map, and Unreal Engine underpinning push both CPU and RAM requirements higher than most comparable titles. Our UK SCUM hosting provides AMD Ryzen 9 7950X compute and NVMe SSD storage as standard, which handles SCUM's simulation load and fast map loading. Full root access lets you configure every server variable in the ServerSettings.json, including loot modifiers, NPC density, time of day progression, and the detailed character simulation parameters that define SCUM's gameplay feel.

Game server performance at Glitch runs on AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processors - the high single-core clock speeds that game server software depends on for physics calculations, entity management, and script execution. NVMe Gen4 storage eliminates the map-load pauses and save-cycle stutters that affect game servers on spinning-disk or SATA SSD storage.

Network routing through AS212868 with direct LINX and LONAP peering keeps British players on UK-native ISP paths, avoiding the 30–60ms additional latency that routing via Frankfurt or Amsterdam adds for players connecting from UK residential broadband. Corero Smartwall DDoS mitigation is always on - game servers are frequent targets for volumetric attacks, and scrubbing runs at the network edge without adding processing latency to legitimate player traffic.

All plans include full root or admin access for custom configuration, mod installation, and plugin management. No port restrictions. Full game server plan details are on the game server hosting page.

Why Glitch Servers

Hardware Built for Game Server Performance

Game servers demand high single-core clock speeds, fast storage for map loading, and DDoS protection as standard - not an upsell.

Getting Started

How to Get Your Server Running

Most servers are online within minutes of ordering.

1

Step 1

Install SteamCMD and download the SCUM Dedicated Server (App ID 1106890): steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1106890 +quit. The server files are approximately 12GB.

2

Step 2

Copy SCUM/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ServerSettings.json from the example and configure your server name, max players, admin passwords, and gameplay modifiers. Add your Steam64 ID to the admin list.

3

Step 3

Launch SCUMServer.exe with your configured settings. Open UDP ports 7777, 7778, and 27015 in your firewall. The server will appear in the SCUM browser within 2–5 minutes of starting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

SCUM's puppet AI system is one of the most demanding in survival gaming - each puppet runs independent pathfinding, threat detection, and animation state on the server, and with 64 players spread across a large map, active puppet zones multiply. A 64-player server with high puppet density typically requires 12–16 GB RAM and benefits substantially from fast single-core CPU performance for the AI tick loop. Our AMD Ryzen 9 7950X handles the Unreal Engine AI simulation at full boost clocks, while DDR5 RAM keeps puppet state tables resident without paging. NVMe Gen4 storage ensures the large SCUM map chunks load without I/O delays when players move between sectors.
SCUM servers are targeted by DDoS attacks most frequently during organised base raids and PvP events, when disrupting a rival squad's connection is tactically advantageous. Glitch Servers deploys Corero Smartwall inline protection on every server, mitigating volumetric UDP floods in under one second at the network edge before they reach your server. Because mitigation is inline rather than via cloud scrubbing, there is no re-routing delay - players experience a momentary network event at worst rather than prolonged outage. Our AS212868 network with NTT and GTT Tier-1 transit provides clean upstream routing that limits exposure to peering-level attack amplification.
SCUM exposes extensive server configuration through ServerConfig.ini, covering loot spawn rates, puppet density per zone, base decay timers, character wipe schedules, and event frequencies. Full root access to your server means you can edit ServerConfig.ini directly and restart the server to apply changes - no control panel restrictions limit what you can adjust. You can also configure scheduled restarts, automated backups before major setting changes, and custom MOTD messages through the server's command interface. For communities running economy-focused servers with custom loot tables, the NVMe Gen4 storage ensures configuration reloads apply quickly after restart.
